About Green Construction...

 The building industry has set standards for homes being built based upon energy efficiency and environmentally sound building principles; “Green” has become synonymous with utilizing these principles.

U.S. Green Building Council has created The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System® which is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance sustainable buildings. Included in their standards are mandatory measures that range from the installation of drought-tolerant turf in sunny areas and no turf in densely shaded areas to prohibiting the use of invasive or exotic plant species as defined by the local Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service.  In addition, there are many wonderful voluntary ways LEED® points can be earned.  For a few examples; you can earn points by simply building a home that is smaller than the National average, use materials extracted, manufactured, and/or produced within 500 miles of the building site, or not developing on environmentally sensitive sites and farmland.  LEED’s® rating system extensively reviews every aspect of the building site and building itself.  We offer a completed checklist of the LEED® rating system for each of our homes. We maximize LEED's® rating system for Indoor Air Quality by using no out-gassing paints, caulks, or sealants.
